Coburg SDS employs a full-time Speech Therapist and a full-time Occupational Therapist.

Our therapy team works in classroom on a one-on-one basis and works with the staff to develop individual therapy goals and program for students.

Furthermore, the therapy team:

  • Liaise with teachers and parents/carers regarding concerns or issues with respect to the program or student.

  • Provide the school leadership team with a high level of advice and support int he reappraisal of students.

  • Provide a service to the school and other agencies as required utilising specific knowledge of therapies, programs and case management strategies.

  • Maintain appropriate records and provide written and oral reports as required.

  • Liaise with other professionals within the schools' network as required.

  • Promote awareness of issues relating to occupational and speech therapy across the school.

  • Work with classroom and specialist staff in developing and implementing sensory and movement programs within the classroom.

  • Undertake a leading role in the development, implementation and evaluation of individual learning programs for students.

  • Consult regularly with teachers for evaluation and co-ordination purposes.
